Had a wonderfully gluttonous brunch at Bar Tartine on Sunday, then walked around my neighborhood and shot some photos in Alamo Sq.

Poached egg with prosciutto and pork-belly open-face
West 32nd turned out ok. The story was so-so, but entertaining enough. The theatre was completely packed (>1400 seats). I was quite impressed by the design of the place: lavish and ornate with Art Deco and Spanish-colonial influences

So much for my goal of regular posting. But I had a busy week, just finished working nights. It wasn’t awful, but I am SO looking forward to having a regular schedule again — it’s (almost) like I’m a normal person.
The SFIAAFF is happening this week. Watched Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo at Kabuki yesterday. Without giving too much away, “The Square Root of 3″ poem was my favorite. I was mathletic in high school, so I found it especially witty and touching.
John Cho made a brief appearance at the end of the film for Q&A. He’s such a cutie! He’s playing Sulu in the upcoming Star Trek movie and is scheduled to appear at the West 32nd showing later today. I’ve been looking forward to this movie for the past year… A crime drama set in Manhattan’s KTown — it certainly seems to have all the components of a film I’ll enjoy! I’m hoping to see extraneous shots of Kunjip, Camel and Chorus. It better not disappoint.
Had dinner at R&G last night. Definitely one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. Tried the Peking duck, which was so greasy, yet SO good. While I do love me a good salt-and-pepper _________ (*insert seafood dish here), my tastes are rather simple. My favorite dish has to be the seafood & bean curd soup. I could eat it for dinner everyday. Afterward, I saw Dave Chappelle at the Cobbs. OMG so hilarious. I knew he’d be good, but his stand-up was brilliant live.

interesting article in the NYT Travel section detailing Vietnam’s goal to become a golf destination in SE Asia…
it’s still years behind places like Indonesia, lacking developed infrastructure and having courses that seem to require significant manicuring. but this does highlight Vietnam’s growing economic status in the region and potential as a luxury travel destination

Along with the SDK announcement, this piece of news got me pretty excited. Premier Sand Hill VC firm Kleiner Perkins has started a $100M iFund meant to support the development of more corporate-friendly email and other software.

I’ve been to a number of Warriors games this season. This photo was from Chris Webber’s first game back as a Warrior. For a player with such talent and potential… he’s always been so very un-clutch. I think a particular Michigan-UNC championship game and time-out sums up his career nicely.

Disappointing… it would have been nice to pull off an upset against UCLA at Pauley. Shipp’s shot was pretty amazing (though technically it should not have counted). I’m actually a big fan of UCLA basketball (when they’re not playing Cal). I’m in awe of John Wooden and his legacy, and B. Dizzle is one of my favorites.

Sad… Sounds like Coach Wooden, 97, is currently in the hospital with atrial fibrillation. He suffered a fall last month and broke his wrist and collarbone.

I saw this on coolhunting: a flip book containing “an image of the color spectrum against a black background on each page, creating the illusion of an arced rainbow hovering above the pages as the pages flip by.” It’s available on Utrecht.
